A 3-year-old girl is dead after a security door fell on her at a Philadelphia ice cream shop.
Investigators tell Philly.com that the metal security door detached and fell on the child at a Rita's Water Ice store in north Philadelphia. The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. in the city's Brewerytown section. They tell the website the girl was taken to a hospital and died shortly after arrival.
Police tell WPVI-TV the preschooler was there with her mother, and bystanders rushed to lift the door off the child with others gave CPR. Witnesses tell the station a sorority and fraternity fundraiser was going on at the time.
Officials with the Department of Licenses and Inspections are on the scene investigating.
