Recommendation For Eight F-35 Squadrons At Cherry Point

Cherry Point could get eight squadrons of the new F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

The final environmental impact statement on where to put the jets recommends the eight at the Craven County base and five more in Beaufort, South Carolina.

The 30-day review and comment period of the final EIS begins October 22. A final decision from the Navy is not expected until December.

Yeah the decline of our supremacy in the air...these jets really help with all the dog fighting we do with the Taliban huh? I understand the importance of having supreme air craft, but I think we should shift focus to stealth, high altitude aircraft since the days of the cold war and dog fighting with Soviet Migs is over with. No other military in the world (that is not an ally) has anything close to what we have.

Too bad it is a substandard design compared with the Raptor. These F-35s will mark the decline of US supremacy in the air.
