Onslow County is designating reserved parking spaces for those wounded while serving in the military.
The wounded warrior parking signs are red and white with the widley recognized Wounded Warrior logo: a military man carrying his wounded brother off the battlefield.
Onslow County Manager Jeff Hudson says the county will be putting two wounded warrior parking spaces each at the tax office, the health department and the county's multipurpose complex. Spaces are already designated near the courthouse on the river-side of the building.
"It will be helpful for this group that has done so much for us and for our community," said Hudson.
Hudson added the idea began as a suggestion from a register of deeds at the courthouse, who saw new mothers lugging in baby strollers and car-carriers. The county decided to re-allocate un-used magistrate reserved spots for new moms and wounded warriors.
More spaces are planned for the local airport.
