A Pitt County mother had a very special Christmas this year. Her daughter, who is in the Navy, was able to come home and surprise her. WITN was there to capture the moment.
At the time of the big surprise Katie Moore was at her sister's house helping to cook food for the annual "Feed The Streets."
Moore and her sister, Carrie Baker, have run "Feed The Streets" since the early 80's. Their family and friends help to prepare a big feast and then they invite around 100 people in the community to come and enjoy the food.
Moore had no idea that her daughter, Felisha Shelley, was returning home from Afghanistan. When her daughter walked through the front door Christmas morning, Moore screamed in shock and gave Shelley a big hug. She says, "I was shocked, but one of those good shocks."
Shelley says, "You know everyone wants to see you in uniform coming up, you don't want to see the other people in uniform because they will let you know casualties have happened. Just coming in with my uniform and I'm proud to say she's supported me from day one."
