Name Of Suspected Afghan Shooter To Be Released

Nearly one week after the massacre in Afghanistan that claimed the lives of 16 civilians, we are expecting to learn the name of the soldier accused in those killings today.

We have learned the Army Staff Sergeant was highly decorated, even nominated for the Bronze Star at one point, though he did not receive it.

Seattle attorney John Henry Browne, who's representing the soldier, says his client saw his friend's leg blown off the day before the rampage. Browne tells The Associated Press that according to his client's family, he was standing next to another U.S. soldier when that soldier was gravely injured.

Browne says all of the soldiers at the remote camp where his client was assigned were upset by the injury. It's not clear whether that might have prompted the killings of the civilians, who included women and children.

If the shoe was on the other foot and an Afghan soldier came here and murdered American 16 citizens, do you really think we would send him back home? This was a war crime and he needs to be held accountable under international law. If guilty, which seems appropriate here, one of the penalties could be death by firing squad. He deserves it. So does George W Bush and Rumsfeld; line them up too. In a broader view, it is time to get the troops out of Afghanistan, it is going to happen and may as well be soon than later. If Bush had not illegally (war crime) invaded Iraq and stayed focused on Al Qaeda in Afghanistan, we would not be in this mess.

Bush did nothing wrong, no war crimes. He had FULL support of the house of representatives and the senate before going in. Put on your big boy pants and stop acting like a sniveling idiot!

Congress was deceived by Bush, Rumsfeld, Rice and Powell. Remember WMDs? Talk about lies - whew!

I could not disagree more with "Biker Dude". This man had a brain injury from a previous deployment and should never have been sent back over there! This does not excuse his actions but there should certainly be others held accountable as well. Turn him over to the courts in Afghanistan? You have got to be kidding me, that should NEVER happen. Try him in our courts based on our laws, not the savages from over there.

I saw a bunch of tragedy too. More than just two. This does not excuse this man for killing women and children in cold blood. Hand him over to the courts in Afganistan where he commited this crime. Is it any wonder why we are so hated as a country. We bought our way into that land with foreign aid bribery. Bin Laden is dead get out of there.
