NC Based Soldier From Texas Killed In Afghanistan

The U.S. government says a soldier from Texas who was based at Fort Bragg has been killed in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense said Saturday that 36-year-old Master Sgt. Benjamin A. Stevenson died Thursday.

The Pentagon says the Canyon Lake, Texas, native was injured when insurgents attacked his unit using small arms fire.

Stevenson had been assigned to the U.S. Army Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg.
