Military Veterans Honored At Beaufort County Ceremony

At the Veterans Park in Washington in Beaufort County the national anthem was played, a poem was read in tribute to the fallen, and wreaths were laid to honor service members. Organizers say this is the 13th year for the memorial.

"Some of us are Vietnam veterans, World War II veterans- there are all kinds of them out here. Some of us were disgraced when we came back from Vietnam, but no more, no more disgrace. We're all out here for them." Donald Sayers.

"For our veterans, they are important. This is a day to remember them. My husband was a veteran for 22 years in the Army. So we need to recognize all of them," said the memorial service organizer
Melba Sayers.

The local Junior ROTC helped with the memorial as well.
