Marines Prepare For Life After The Military

Thousands of military jobs are on the chopping block, under the latest defense spending plan. The Marine Corps says it's doing its best to make sure marines are prepared for life after the military.

Marine Corps Community Services says it expected about 1,000 marine and navy service men and women to attend its Spring Job Fair at Camp Lejeune Wednesday.

82 employers and 52 colleges and universities were on hand to speak about opportunities after the military.

The Career Assistance Branch Manager for MCCS says she gets 50 to 60 requests a day from businesses wanting to hire marines. Jobs are available, but she believes the fair helps marines make connections.

Camp Lejeune will host a Vocational and Technical Hiring Fair June 19. Also, another Job and Education Expo is coming up on September 24.
