Marine Commandant Fields Questions About Downsizing At Cherry Point

The Commandant and Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps made a stop at Cherry Point Tuesday where they fielded questions from Marines.

Commandant General James Amos and Sergeant Major Michael Barrett answered questions about downsizing and cutbacks.

The Commandant says he really doesn't have a clear cut answer-- but he does have some advice for Marines about how to make the impending cut as forces must draw back. General Amos says, "Be the best Marine you can possibly be as we being to make sure that we keep only the very, very best Marines on the re-enlistment option."

The recent debt deal calls for 350-billion dollars in cuts to U.S. Defense spending.
