Man Rescued From Cruise Ship Off Wilmington

The Coast Guard has flown a man with a medical condition from a cruise ship to a North Carolina hospital.

Coast Guard officials said they were contacted Monday afternoon by the doctor on the Norwegian cruise ship Gem who reported a 38-year-old man was going into shock. The ship was about 75 miles east of Wilmington at the time.

A helicopter from the Coast Guard Air Station in Elizabeth City flew the man from the ship to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

The Coast Guard says the man was in stable condition. His name was not released.
