Camp Lejeune Marine Honored

A locally based Marine is getting honored for his good work in the military and his community.

Gunnery Sergeant Donald Garrison Jr. is the Marine Corps recipient of GEICO's 2011 Military Service Award for his work in fire safety and fire prevention. Gunnery Sergeant Garrison is assigned to maintenance Company, 2d Maintenance Battalion, in the II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune.

As a member of the Half Moon Volunteer Fire Department, Garrison responded to more than 107 incidents in 2010 including saving lives of people trapped in vehicles and helping with major floods in 2010.
