Craven County Hires Lawyers To Lobby For Cherry Point, FRC

The largest employer east of I-95 is receiving cash from its county commissioners to pay for a law firm they have hired to lobby for them.

Craven County commissioners have allocated $20,000 to help pay for a lobbyist to protect Cherry Point Air Station and the Fleet Readiness Center, according to the New Bern Sun Journal.

The report says commissioners expect to receive another $50,000 from a state grant to help with the lawyer costs.

The commissioners say they are working against potential detrimental realignment possibilities.

my tax dollars should not be spent on politics, the base should stand on its own merit, the facts are that it is an old base that supports old aircraft, after the current conflicts are ended the military will be downsized.do not through money down the drain,we cannot afford it.
