The largest employer east of I-95 is receiving cash from its county commissioners to pay for a law firm they have hired to lobby for them.
Craven County commissioners have allocated $20,000 to help pay for a lobbyist to protect Cherry Point Air Station and the Fleet Readiness Center, according to the New Bern Sun Journal.
The report says commissioners expect to receive another $50,000 from a state grant to help with the lawyer costs.
The commissioners say they are working against potential detrimental realignment possibilities.
