Lejeune Commanding Officer Now Overseeing Six Installations

A change of command aboard Camp Lejeune Tuesday and a change in authority for the top man in charge.

Brigadier General Thomas Gorry is now in charge at Camp Lejeune and also all six Marine Corps installations up and down the east coast.

While Colonel Daniel Lecce hands the base to General Gorry, Gorry will also assume leadership of Marine Corps Installations East. Each base or installation along the East coast has their own Commanding Officer, but Gorry will pull double duty as Lejeune's Commanding Officer and overseeing the other six installations.

This merger is not Lejeune specific- it's a move across the Marine Corps, striving for effectiveness.

Lecce's next post is in Miami.
