Havelock officials are asking drivers to allow more time to travel through the city.
The city reports: "For the time being, MCAS (Marine Corps Air Station) Cherry Point has gone to FP (Force Protection) Bravo, meaning that they are doing 100% ID checks in ALL gates. This has created significant congestion through the City of Havelock during the morning rush. Please plan your commute accordingly, and allow extra time for arriving in Havelock, or to get through Havelock en route to either east- or westbound destinations."
The upcoming 10th anniversary of 9-11 is prompting military and other government installations to increase security.
