Greenville & ECU Pay Tribute To Veterans

Many people gathered at the Greenville Town Common Friday morning to salute our veterans.

Adults, kids, and veterans lined up to watch the parade. Bands from Pitt County High Schools came together to play in the parade and there were organizations from all over Pitt County that participated.

Many veterans were in the parade and standing along the parade route watching. Some of those veterans said this was a special day for them to get together and reflect on some of their past experiences. They also said it's a day to remind Americans not to take freedom for granted.

After the parade there was a ceremony held at 11:00 a.m. where General Gary North spoke. He is an ECU alum and Commander of Pacific Air Forces.

Meantime, at ECU, events there kicked off with the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard Drill team, which did a special show for those attending.

Then a ceremony was held at the ECU Freedom Wall. A Medal of Honor recipient spoke along with ECU officials.
