Soldier Scheduled To Report To Fort Bragg Killed By Police After Chase

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Police say an Ohio soldier scheduled to head to Afghanistan within weeks was killed after police chased him in connection to the slaying of his girlfriend.

Columbus police Sgt. Rich Weiner (WEYE'-nur) says Javon Williams was spotted in a vehicle early Friday and fled from plain clothes officers, who were able to stop the vehicle. Weiner says shots were fired as police tried to arrest Williams and he was fatally struck. He says a handgun was found in the vehicle.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that the girlfriend, 18-year-old Leigh Belyn of Columbus, was found shot to death in the trunk of a car Thursday night in suburban Westerville.

The newspaper reports ( the 19-year-old Williams, of Columbus, was scheduled to report to Fort Bragg, N.C., on Friday.

      That is probably a German name and is pronounced, "Winner". Pronounce it and think about it any way you like. If it were my name, think it would be changed. Grin, you are on candid camera!
