Fort Bragg Paratrooper Killed In Afghanistan

Military officials say a Fort Bragg paratrooper has died in Afghanistan from injuries suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with a bomb.

The Pentagon says 20-year-old Pfc. Brandon D. Goodine of Luthersville, Ga., died Thursday in the Maiwand district of Kandahar province. He was assigned to the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division.

It was Goodine's first deployment to Afghanistan after joining the Army just over a year ago.

His awards include the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart.
