A former Camp Lejeune Marine has been sentenced to ten years in prison after pleading guilty to child pornography charges.
Shawn Dixon pleaded guilty in March before U.S. District James Dever III in Raleigh to attempting to entice a child to engage in illegal sexual conduct. The 21 year old was sentenced to 126 months in prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release. Dixon is also required to register as a sex offender.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says back in December 2009, Dixon met a 12-year-old in an online chat room. They say the relationship progressed with sexually explicit conversations and acts via online video. Then in April 2010, the feds say a meeting was arranged between the two with the intent of having sex. A family member discovered the planned meeting and notified authorities.
