Former Marine Readiness Officer Sentenced In Child Sex Case

A former Camp Lejeune civilian family readiness officer will spend the next 25 to 30 years in state prison after a plea this morning.

Leslie Nichols pleaded no contest to first degree sex offense with a child. The 8-year-old girl was a relative, according to prosecutors.

The 40-year-old Nichols was arrested back in 2009 by Jacksonville police. Court officials say some of the sex acts were committed in front of a webcam at the woman's home.

Authorities say the charges did not stem from Nichols' job with the Marine Corps.
