Former Marine Corps Employee To Plead Guilty To Embezzlement

A former worker at a Marine base is expected to plead guilty to embezzling tens of thousands of dollars.

Leigh Valez is expected to plead guilty Tuesday in federal court to charges that she spend $74,000 on herself using a Marine Corps community services governmental purchase card, according to multiple media reports.

Reports say Valez was fired from her job in "Marine Corps Community Services" at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in Havelock.

Valez was charged on May 1 for embezzlement.
