24th MEU Marines Homecomings Continue Today

It was a big day of celebrations Sunday at Camp Lejeune as the first of the 24th MEU return home.

Members of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit are officially back home from their 9 month deployment. The Marines spent time in Jordan, Morocco, Rwanda, Kuwait and other countries. With Christmas right around the corner, it was the perfect gift for these families to have mom or dad back home

"There's so much to do. There's a Christmas tree to decorate and there's presents to wrap. There's so much to catch up on. It's so nice to not be home alone anymore and have someone to share all her fun moments with," said Jennifer Darrell with respect to her husband who just returned home and their young daughter.

It will take the next 2 days for all 2,300 Marines to finish their return.
Homecomings are also taking place at New River and Cherry Point Air Stations.
