Cruises To Honor Navy SEAL, Benefit Wounded Warrior Project

A coastal state park is doing its part to honor the final wishes of the local Navy SEAL killed when a helicopter was shot down over Afghanistan.

Chris Campbell, of Jacksonville, was killed in the August crash that claimed the lives of 30 American troops.

Now, Hammocks Beach State Park is running its marsh cruises to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. The staff at the Swansboro state park decided to benefit the organization since that was Campbell's wish.

There is no set cost for the cruise, but a minimum donation of $5 per passenger is required.

Also, pre-registration for cruises is being held on National Estuaries Day, September 24 through the Coastal Federation while pre-registration for all other dates is accepted by contacting the Hammocks Beach State Park office.
