Decorated Retired Marine Found Dead In Base Sauna

A retired Camp Lejeune Marine's death on base is under investigation by Naval investigators.

The base says the body of Shawn O'Shea was found in a sauna at Goettge Memorial Field House around 11:20 a.m. Wednesday.

A news release says the 45-year-old man was pronounced dead on scene by emergency services personnel.

O'Shea retired in April 2010 with the rank of master sergeant as a motor transport operations chief. He had been deployed as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Desert Storm and Desert Shield. O'Shea had received the Bronze Star, and two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals.

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is looking into his death.
