Officials at the base in Havelock say there is no change in the security level, but they are checking IDs of everyone coming on base today.
Traffic is much heavier than normal getting on base because of the security precaution. Public affairs officials at the base say checking IDs is one of the security precautions they can enact randomly. They say it makes the base "less susceptible" to getting attacked.
People going on base should plan to spend extra time in traffic. The base said, to be on the safe side, people should try to plan an extra 20 to 30 minutes to get on base this morning and again this evening, during heavy traffic times.
