Five-dozen local marines are scheduled to fly out today for Afghanistan.
Cherry Point says more than 60 Marines with Marine Tactical Air Command Squadron 28 and Marine Air Control Squadron 2 will deploy today. The unit's mission while deployed is to provide responsive air support to the Second Marine Expeditionary Force in southwestern Afghanistan.
