Camp Lejeune Marine Killed In Wreck

A Camp Lejeune marine was killed in a wreck early Thursday morning according to Highway Patrol. Troopers say alcohol was involved.

According to troopers around 2 a.m. on Thursday Edward Rhoades was driving North on Highway 17 in Pollocksville when he ran off the road to the right, over-corrected, hit a ditch, then a utility pole, and his vehicle flipped several times.

Troopers say Rhoades died from his injuries sustained in the wreck. They say Rhoades blood alcohol level was above 2.0 at the time.
