With all the talk about Hurricane Bill since it formed last weekend, could there be anyone who does not know about this storm? The Coast Guard says, absolutely.
Coast Guard pilots say the storm formed quickly, so it's possible some boats and ships far out to sea are unaware of Hurricane Bill and the danger it poses to them. That's why a C-130 took off from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City Thursday, flying north to Maine before returning back to North Carolina. All along the trip, they warned boats about the approaching storm.
The Coast Guard says these trips are common during hurricane season.
