Lejeune Family Readiness Officer Accused Of Sex Offenses With 9-Year-Old

A civilian Camp Lejeune Family Readiness Officer has been charged with forcing a pre-teen to engage in sexual acts with her.

39-year-old Leslie Nichols of Jacksonville was arrested on July 29th by Jacksonville police. She was charged with first degree sex offense, five counts of indecent liberties with a minor, and five counts of child abuse by sexual act.

Warrants allege that Nichols forced a 9-year-old child to practice oral sex on her. Nichols is in the Onslow County Jail under a $300,000 bond.

Nichols is the third person from Camp Lejeune arrested this week on sex charges. Earlier this week a Marine was accused of getting an 11-year-old girl drunk and engaging in sex, while just yesterday a Marine sergeant was charged with inappropriately touching a member of his unit after a party at his home.

The military IS our HEROS! Some just do INSANE stuff. There are zillions of wonderful people in the military, so why would you not think some people go terribly wrong. Same as civilian life. Don't demonize the entire military! Yeah, shes a whack job that needs some serious counseling. No one really knows about another person no matter how good they did their job.

I knew Leslie, too. She has a son, 4, and the other kids are her sister's kids that she has taken in. I am shocked and disgusted.

Hey, now, let's let the courts decide whether she is guilty. If it's true, she is very sick, and a child's life has been really screwed up. But if untrue (it does happen!), something crazy is going on, and this lady's life has just been ruined. I have to stand up for MCCS: they do a thorough background check on every employee, so if she had any priors, it would have come up, and they never would have hired her. Also, sad to say, but the age of sexual consent in NC is 16, so the ssgt dating a 16 yr old is not illegal, even if most of us would not agree morally. Yes, she was a civilian hired to head up family readiness within a marine unit. She is not a marine, but heroes come in many forms. Let's not start slamming one another, we all do our part. The FRO job is not easy by a long shot. John is right, though, this is not acceptable anywhere by anyone with any sense, so please don't stereotype FROs, the Marine Corps, or this base by a few sick individuals!

I know her too. Leslie was wonderful and helped me and well as other women during a difficult deployment. I was shocked and quite frankly don't know what to believe. There has got to be more to the story, the Leslie I know would never do this. If the 9 year old is her daughter, the little girl also has extreme psychological issues, althought it is ALWAYS better to err on the side of the child. God is her only judge. I will remember the Leslie that helped me and my family...while I silently thank god I never left my children with her.

Ordananceman, you ARE a "so-called hero". There. I have called your bluff. Have a nice day and be weary of the PTSD flashbacks.

This Human being was most likely kept under a microscope for a while, evidence was gathered and concrete, presented, then the law went in to make the arrest. "Do the crime, Do the time" Period....
