2 US Troops Killed In Afghanistan Blast, 4 Wounded

A U.S. military spokeswoman says two American troops have been killed and four others wounded after an explosion in eastern Afghanistan.

Lt. Cmdr. Christine Sidenstricker says the blast occurred in eastern Paktika province on Saturday. She did not have further details on what caused the explosion.

The deaths come as thousands of Marines in southern Afghanistan are involved in the biggest U.S. military operation here since the American-led invasion of 2001, trying to cut insurgent supply lines and win over local elders.
