More than 50 Army Reserve soldiers will attend a ceremony to say goodbye to their friends and family as they prepare for deployment to Iraq.
The 422nd Civil Affairs Battalion's ceremony on Sunday afternoon is being held at the Army Reserve Center in Greensboro. The troops will be sent to a base for training before they leave the United States.
Civil Affairs soldiers work with the civilian population in a war zone or disaster area and coordinate aid and improvement projects. The soldiers work in civilian life as doctors, lawyers, municipal employees, computer experts and other fields.
