Top Commander In Afghanistan Asked To Resign

The Pentagon is replacing its top general in Afghanistan as President Barack Obama tries to turn around a stalemated war.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Monday he asked for the resignation of Gen. David McKiernan. He said a fresh approach was in the U.S.'s best interest.

The move comes as more than 21,000 additional U.S. forces begin to arrive in Afghanistan, dispatched by Obama to confront the Taliban more forcefully this spring and summer.

Gates said new military leadership was needed to go along with a new strategy and a new ambassador.

He said the decision was in the best interest of national security.

I guess the soldiers from Iraq will be moving from one place to another shortly. You cannot police a country when you can't keep poorly educated people from crossing a border. ELECTED government officials are still trying to make an omlet without breaking an egg. Keep saying VIETNAM, VIETNAM and you will realize it is happening all over again.

The Chicago Street Hustler wants a scapegoat to pin the blame on for a war that is quickly getting out of control. Where are all of you squaking doves who wanted to surrender as soon as your false messiah was coronated. We are supposed to be getting out of these wars not escalating them. You silly doves are really going to lay your droppings on the sidewalk after your nitwit phony messiah pulls out of Iraq and then it flares up again. It will, it would have done the same if McCain was president. But he isn't, so the chaos and bloodshed will be the fault of the former pothole fixing, community organizing con man. Enjoy.

With the message to the Taliban of how bad we Americans are and we must talk and have peace. As they pass out millions of white flags to the Afgan people. Give the Taliban a chance they are not that evil. There are some good Taliban you will see.

If I had to take a serious guess on this, I would say it's because David McKiernan is a Republican and Obama wants a Democrat in there. I don't know if it's REALLY in the best interest of national security, but I am sure that it's in Obama's best interest. Obama has lied so much day after day after day and I can't beleive half of the things that are coming out of his mouth. Bush was the same way. I am not taking sides to this but I just want an honest president that won't lie to the nation every day and make certain moves that goes to their own personal well being and not the United States. Perdue is way worse than Obama about telling lies. Before long they might start to look like Pinnochio lol. I personally beleive that an independent candidate would be the way to go. Should America be about the people? Yes it should but it's not. The DC crowd is doing things in the best interest for themselves and their party, and that is also ruining the nation.
