Deployment From Seymour Johnson AFB

A fighter jet squadron from a North Carolina Air Force base is deploying to Afghanistan for a four-month tour of duty.

The 336th Fighter Squadron's F-15E Strike Eagle jets and about 300 personnel, including air and ground crews, will deploy Wednesday from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro.

The F-15E is capable of air-to-air fighting and strikes at ground targets. The jet has a pilot and a weapons officer.

I figured as much when I heard Eagles flying over my house at 5:00AM this morning.I hope everyone in the 336 has a safe tour of duty, and that everyone, man and bird returns home safely.
