Marine Gets 5 1/2 Years In Internet Sex Sting

A Camp Lejeune Marine will spend 5 1/2 years in the brig after pleading guilty to trying to meet a young girl for sex on the Internet.

Sergeant Donald Mundell admitted that he chatted with a middle school aged girl on the Internet. That girl turned out to be an undercover detective with the Pender County Sheriff's Office.

Mundell was one of several people from across the state that were arrested during the 8 month undercover investigation.

In addition to the prison time, Mundell received a rank reduction to E-1, a bad conduct discharge, sex offender registration and DNA processing.
