New Info: Marine Murder Suspect Back In NC Granted No Bond

A former Marine charged with the murder of a comrade in 1972 appeared in an Onslow County courtroom today.

It was the first appearance for Rodger Gill. He was granted no bond. An arraignment was scheduled for April 13 in Superior Court.

Gill was extradited to North Carolina after getting arrested in Illinois in January. Gill is charged with first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the death of Sgt. William Miller.

Vickie Miller Hayden Cooper Babbitt and former Cape Carteret and Belhaven Police Chief George Hayden were charged in the cold case last September. They were both released on bond.

Miller was found shot to death near Camp Lejeune in 1972.
