Veterans second amendment rights to bear arms are being violated, according to Senator Richard Burr.
He and 14 other lawmakers have introduced legislation to change that.
Currently, when a Veteran seeks help from the Department of Veterans Affairs, the VA may determine they're unable to manage their own financial affairs and appoint a fiduciary.
When that happens, they are deemed as mentally defective and may be prohibited from purchasing a firearm.
The legislation Burr and others introduced would end that practice.
