Party, Then Deploy

The 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade will enjoy a farewell party before its deployment to Afghanistan.

The soldiers will be treated to free food, free drinks, and free entertainment at Friday's party, paid for by local businesses and
veteran groups. Country artists Heidi Newfield, Matt Stillwell, and Bill West & the Truth will perform. The event is free for soldiers, family members and their guests.

Lt. Col. Terry Truett, the unit's deputy commanding officer, said the party recognizes the sacrifices of the troops and their families.

The Pentagon ordered the 2,800 aviation soldiers to Afghanistan in December. The brigade will depart later this spring and be based in southern Afghanistan.
