Camp Lejeune Marines Among 12,000 Heading To Afghanistan

The Pentagon says 12,000 more troops are heading to Afghanistan.

That includes 8,000 Marines from Camp Lejeune's 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade. The Pentagon says those Marines will deploy in late spring.

The Obama administration announced that one additional Army brigade and the Marines will head to help with the flagging war.

It is the first installment on a larger influx of U.S. forces that have been widely expected this year. It would get a few thousand troops in place in time for the increase in fighting that usually comes with warmer weather and ahead of national elections this summer.

Semper fi leatherneck.. Some, not all, of these people have no clue as to military service. As usual, they run their mouths about something they know jack about. Do any of you realize the impact it would make on the Taliban/terrorist if we find Bin Laden the same way Saddam was found? It would be very demoralizing for the enemy. I realize for every Bin Laden, there is another that will take his place, but to drag his sorry self out of a hole, cave, etc. would be huge for moral. I spent 15 months in Al Anbar Prov. (Camp Ramadi), and I saw firsthand what I hope none of you will ever have to see. Simply put,our service men and women know the dangers. They do not need people like some of you telling them about more dead soldiers. Believe me, they are well aware of the possibility of dying. Bin Laden MUST be found. It seems some of you have forgotten 9/11. You all have your right to opinions, and I respect that. We are the worlds police force, and if we do not use it, we will loose it.

I'm sorry to hear about the military parents or families out there but if obama us going to send troops it was bound to happen. No matter what we were going to stay over there no matter what because no matter who was going to be president we would have stayed there anyways but that's what happens when we want to change a society the way we want it to be. I'm leaving in august for boot camp but I'm actually excited about making a difference in another country plus its a great way of life wanting people to be like us and yes we are changing their culture but the middle east was doing horribly before we came over there and there hasn't been any attacks on America. So, the American people should give thanks to these soldiers cause they are giving there lives so that we can live a happy life!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sick of reading the comments on every single thing that McCain voters say. It is not going to happen over night, if he did bring the troops home as fast as we hoped he would, then September 11th would happen all over again. Change is not going to happen over night (& he clarified this) so shut up and get over it. Accept the fact that he won and change will happen. It irritates me to read about "blah blah blah Obama said this and haha I thought Obama said this" Shut up!!!
