Memorial Services For Dead Marine

Memorial services took placed for a Marine who took his own life back in January, last night at Salem Baptist Church in Sneads Ferry where he was a member.

Dozens attented the service for 24 year old Corporal Johnathon Tyler Burnette. Burnette died January 7th at the Naval Hospital. The NCIS says the autopsy showed of self inflicted wounds. Church members are devastated at the loss -- they describe Burnette as humble, willing to help with a big smile and big heart. Many of his family members were in attendance last night, including his young daughter.

The Marine Corps has ruled Bernette's death a suicide but says the investigation may take a year. Burnette's family believes there son was a victim of a crime.

    I dont beleive he took his own life either! I cant beleive there hasnt been more info on why they beleive so.

    I do not believe this marine took his life. I hope the investigation continues...

    I will NEVER believe that he did that to himself,this was just such a sad case.
