Fort Bragg Paratrooper Unit To March In Obama Parade

North Carolina-based paratroopers from the famed 82nd Airborne Division are preparing to march in the inaugural parade for President-elect Barack Obama.

The division said Tuesday the 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment was selected to march in next week's parade.

More than 80 members of the battalion will rehearse the event Thursday afternoon at Fort Bragg.

Battalion commander Lt. Col. Xavier Brunson said the soldiers will participate in a change of command ceremony, as well as a peaceful exchange of power that is "the hallmark of democracy."

The infantry regiment, also known as the 1st Brigade Combat Team, was activated in 1942 at Fort Benning, Ga. Later that year, the 82nd Airborne Division was created.

I have a pretty clear video clip of the 82nd airborn in the parade. Our family traveled to DC to attended the parade. We were fortunate enough to be in the front row!

Do you have a photo of the 82nd Airborn in the Inaugural parade? My son 1Lt. Sean Thurmer marched in the parade and I could not see him or the unit on TV.

Wow-no one is on here bashing the military for participating in the inauguration. People are quick to jump all over a few high school kids who were chosen to participate in the inauguration, but not grown men. Your real colors are shining through, repubs.
