North Carolina Rep. Brad Miller is presenting a U.S. flag to a woman whose late husband's funeral honor guard flag was lost in a Christmas Eve fire in 2000.
Miller will present a flag Wednesday to Virginia Goulding of Raleigh. The new flag was flown over the U.S. Capitol on Sept. 11, 2001.
Goulding's husband, William Muirhead Goulding, joined the military following Pearl Harbor.
He died in 1970 and had a military funeral.
Miller's office said the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has a policy not to provide replacement flags, so Miller is finding a replacement of his own.
