NC Cop Dog Dies Of Cancer; Saved Officer In 2009

A Wake County police dog has died from cancer less than 18 months after saving his handler's life during an arrest.

The News & Observer of Raleigh reported that 10-year-old Jagger died Friday.

Jagger saved Wake County Deputy Bradley Manville while arresting a burglary suspect in December 2009.

Jagger and Manville had worked together since 2002.

The two had confronted a burglary suspect in some woods near Wendell. Manville says 25-year-old Cornelius Pierre Harrison of Rocky Mount was reaching for the officer's gun when Jagger grabbed the suspect's leg and pulled and pulled, allowing Manville to get control of his gun and shoot and kill Harrison.

Jagger has crossed the "Rainbow Bridge" where he is healthy and happy once more. He will play in the green fields until his partner arrives at the bridge, then he will meet him for forever. This is a semi-naarrative of a poem written for beloved animals. Look it up on your computer, it's very nice.

My 80 year old PhD, holy roller, daughter of a Baptist preacher aunt in Clemson says our pets will be in heaven with us. She pointed out some verse to back up her logic. Works for me.

I'm sure Jagger will be missed. It's sad to hear that he died of cancer, but it warms my heart to know that he led such an amazing life, in service to others. Come to think of it, this dog probably made more of his life than some lazy people out there!
