Robbers apparently had second thoughts when they tried to hold up a Rocky Mount store Sunday. The owner pulled out his own weapon.
Police say around 7:00 p.m. the owner of the Fresh Mart on South Church Street was standing in the doorway of his business when he saw two people approach wearing ski masks. One pointed a handgun at him, demanding money.
The owner ran back inside and retrieved a weapon from behind the counter and called police. When he looked back outside, the two would-be robbers were running towards South Franklin Street.
No one was injured and nothing was taken in the attempted robbery.
