Work Crew Inmates Injured In Accident

Two inmates on a work crew were injured after an accident this morning in Pitt County.

The Highway Patrol says three inmates were in the Department of Transportation truck on Rams Horn Road when the vehicle collided with a pickup truck. The accident happened around 11:25 a.m.

Troopers say the DOT truck was about to pull into a driveway to do work when the accident happened. A third inmate was not injured. The inmates are from the Greene Correctional Institution and their injuries are not serious.

The Highway Patrol is still investigating which vehicle was at fault in the accident.

I have had numerous crews of inmates in work parties in a city park ditch behind me and cleaning concrete storm drains in front. I have never felt threatened when they were out there. I hope these guys no harm or serious situations.

Yeah, they hand pic those road crews. Cant be a trouble maker and other critera need to be meet before they are let out into the public. Gotta be real dumb to try and run or cause problems. Gettin some fresh air is what some prisoners call it.
