Woman Wanted In Rocky Mount Charged For Leaving Son In Hotel Room

A New York woman wanted in North Carolina on counterfeiting charges has been accused of leaving her 5-year-old son alone in a hotel room at the Mohegan Sun Casino.

Connecticut State Police say Xiao Xu Wu was charged Wednesday with risk of injury to a minor after her son called 911 and said he was left alone.

When police came to the hotel room, they found the child alone and a note with Wu's cell phone number. She told lawmen she was planning to just be gone for an hour.

Police said the 38-year-old Wu had pending immigration charges and was wanted in Rocky Mount, on counterfeiting charges. Reports say she had more than a million dollars in fake merchandise, from Louis Vuitton purses to Nike shoes, for sale at a flea market in Rocky Mount.

She also was charged as a fugitive from justice and held on a $200,000 bond.

The state has taken the child into custody.

The case was continued to Feb. 24. It's not known if Wu is represented by a lawyer.

This woman is obviously taking advantage of the "Flea Market Loophole" and is selling these items without a proper license, and without doing background checks. This is an obvious case where we need a LOT more laws about "purse control" to prevent this sort of tragedy...

Please. When I was 5 I had a full time job. What is the country coming to when kids that age cannot provide for themselves for a few hours? Truly tragic. And why do the police hate the free-market and capitalism? It's fine for Nike and such to use slave labor to produce goods but not okay to sell a knockoff to provide the American dream for youself? Truly tragic this country is.

If you had a full-time job at the age of 5 yrs. old, someone needs to be investigated.

She was selling the counterfeit goods in Rocky Mount; she was caught leaving her son alone in a hotel room, while gambling, which is located in Connecticut. She gets around.
