Kidnapping Suspect Appears Before Judge

A man who authorities say kidnapped his ex-girlfriend last Monday appeared before a Craven County judge this morning.

Ryan Brown turned himself in to lawmen in Franklin County after a three day search in the woods near his home. That home is where they found the victim, Katherine Bolton, and last saw Brown on Monday running into the woods.

Craven County deputies say Brown broke into Bolton's home on Country Springs Road early on March 19th and kidnapped the woman.

Before a judge in New Bern, Brown was formally charged with kidnapping and burglary. His bond here is $500,000.

Brown also faces charges in Franklin County, including kidnapping, assault, false imprisonment, possession of a weapon and possession of a stolen weapon.
