Woman Found Lying In Her Yard Dead

A Greene County woman is found lying in her yard dead, but officials don't suspect foul play.

According to Sheriff Lemmie Smith, deputies were called out to a home on Hugo Road in Hookerton around 7 a.m. Saturday morning. Smith says Matthew Jones had found his wife, 66-year-old Mary Jones, lying in the yard dead.

Matthew lives in a home next to his wife. The Sheriff's Department along with the SBI was on the scene to investigate.

Smith says Mary did have previous health problems and they believe she died of natural causes, but she has been sent to the medical examiners for an autopsy.

Don't know why they didn't live together, doesn't really matter. I had a classmate who divorced his wife so she could get assistance. She was confined to a nursing home. Whatever works folks!

She was my aunt, and its none of your business why they lived in separate homes. So, if you want to know why then don't because people are nosy and want to gossip and I am going to leave it at that. She is gone, so please let her rest in peace

Frankly, who cares why they lived apart. We are so used to having people hate each other after a failed marriage that something like this stumps everyone. That shows where we are as a society. Rest in peace Mary.

maybe it is because in order to have any help healthwise with insurance etc. they had to live separate believe it or not it happens all the time. as long as they were happy who really cares. he will be lost without her and probably not be happy the rest of his life now. so let him live in peace and maybe now she can rest in peace.

I always pass their house everyday to go get my little girl from school. They always waved and were polite. It is ashamed people want to trash this loss with junk and drama questions. If it were your family I'll bet you would not like it! So be kind and let the lady rest in peace and her family grieve with out this BS> God rest her soul and give the family some peace.

We will all be leaving this world one day as this woman has now done. Personally, am looking foward to seeing what's next. In the meantime, plan to make the best of what time I have left on the world. If that includes living seperate from a significant other, so be it. My cat doesn't nag nor complain just so he gets a can of tuna every other day or so.
