A Bertie County woman charged with neglecting an elderly woman is due in court Wednesday.
Court records in Bertie County show Kim Beacham, 51, of Winsor, is charged with one count of felony abuse of a disabled or elderly person, inflicting serious injury.
Beacham was arrested after staff at Bertie Memorial Hospital called the sheriff's office about the 71-year-old woman suffering from neglect, according to the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald. The paper says doctors think the woman was neglected for about a month.
