Woman Dies In Pitt County Accident

A single car accident claimed the life of a Pitt County woman.

It happened between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon on Highway 11 South in Bethel.

The Highway Patrol says 66-year-old Kathleen Craigens died when the van she was driving went off the road and flipped several times, landing upside down in a person's yard.

Troopers are still investigating, but say no other car was involved in the accident. They are looking into whether speed may be a factor.

Craigens was married to Thomas Craigens--the former manager of the Hope Lodge in Greenville.

We drove by right after the van flipped and saw people who stopped to offer assistance. It really was horrible to see how the van was flipped and their was no other car involved, it looked as if it went over the median and landed upside down with the top nearly smashed. It really makes you pay that much more attention when on the road.

Kathleen was a very dear friend of mine and may God grant her peace. I heard that an SUV side swipped her vehicle and another vehicle. Is this the complete story? Why did someone have to call the tv station and report this too them and they hadn't heard about it.
