Woman Accused In Disabled Elder Theft

A woman who worked for an elderly disabled woman is accused of helping herself to the woman's finances.

Emerald Isle police say Carolyn Greene worked for the woman for six months in late 2008 and early 2009, issuing checks for health care workers, paying bills and running errands.

But police say Greene overpaid herself, stole and forged checks. They say the total amount taken was over $4,000.

Greene has been charged with exploitation of a disabled elderly adult, nine counts of larceny, and nine counts of forgery. The woman was jailed on a $5,000 secured bond.
